At a zoo near Tokyo, the monkey area has become very popular. It is all because of a special pair: Punch, a baby Japanese macaque, and his stuffed orangutan toy.
Punch’s mother left him when he was born seven months ago at Ichikawa City Zoo. When a visitor saw what happened and told the zookeepers, they quickly helped.
Japanese baby macaques usually hold onto their mothers to get stronger and feel safe. Because of this, Punch needed quick help.
The keepers tried different substitutes like rolled-up towels and stuffed animals. Eventually, they chose an orange orangutan from the Swedish furniture store Ikea.
Punch has hardly been seen without it since then. He takes the cuddly toy everywhere even though it’s bigger than him.
This has made fans really happy. Many have come to the zoo since videos of them became popular.
