Where you can bring donations to help those affected by the Tai Po fire

Are there ways you can help the people from Wang Fuk Court who lost their homes? Illustration: Shutterstock

A fire in Tai Po affected seven blocks at Wang Fuk Court and took many lives. The Hong Kong community has come together to support the people who have lost their homes. Many groups have collection points for essential supplies. Here’s how you can contribute.

1. Red Cross

The non-profit organisation will collect essential items and deliver them directly to collection points in Tai Po. It will accept new or like-new items. For example, people can bring blankets, undergarments, pyjamas, charging tools, toiletries, bottled water and snacks that can last for some time.

2. The Hong Kong Council of Social Service

The HKCSS has organised a group of NGOs in Tai Po. It is accepting cash and essential items to help victims of the fire.

3. Feeding HK

Feeding HK collects extra food and gives it to charities across the city. People can donate food at their warehouse in Yau Tong. They accept items that are ready to eat, like UHT milk, crackers, noodles and cereal. Foods that will not expire for some time are also helpful. These could include rice and canned goods.
