Read the following text and answer the quiz below.

[1] Hong Kong’s long association with horses dates back to the mid-19th century, when the first official race meeting took place at the Happy Valley Racecourse in December 1846. To celebrate the upcoming Year of the Horse, several equine-themed events are being organised throughout the city. Here are three events that are definitely worth checking out.

Longines Hong Kong International Horse Show 2026

[2] The Longines Hong Kong International Horse Show (LHKIHS) will return to AsiaWorld-Expo in Chek Lap Kok from January 30 to February 1. It will feature competitions and activities suitable for the entire family. This year, travel companies and hotels are offering all-inclusive travel and experience packages designed for all ages. These packages blend equestrian sport with lifestyle and culinary enjoyment.

[3] For groups of friends and equestrian enthusiasts, the LHKIHS x Sha Tin Racecourse exclusive package offers show tickets, a dining experience, a mini horse plush and an exclusive visit to Sha Tin Racecourse. Meanwhile, JW Marriott Hotel Hong Kong is offering the JW Equestrian Sojourn room package. Perfect for couples, it combines tickets, luxury accommodation and a nostalgic tram ride to The Peak.

[4] The Regent Hong Kong is also running a special promotion for families, which includes tickets for two adults and one child to the three-day event and complimentary round-trip limousine transfers to and from AsiaWorld-Expo. At the horse show, arena highlights include five-star international show jumping competitions and the Hong Kong Jockey Club musical rides, as well as a dog agility competition held by the UK’s Royal Kennel Club. Beyond the arena is the Lifestyle Shopping Village, offering face painting, balloon sculpting, a fashion show and a performance by Hong Kong’s DJ Loki.

Scarpa CNY Horse Tour 2026

[5] For people looking for outdoor activities in the new year, the Scarpa CNY Horse Tour 2026 offers a great opportunity to enjoy the fresh air of nature. This trail running race, named in celebration of the coming Year of the Horse, will be held on the third day of the Lunar New Year (February 19) at Tai Tam Country Park.

[6] The race offers different routes – including the Horse 13 (13.8 km) and the Horse 20 (20.3 km) – to cater to different levels, from beginners to seasoned trail runners. Ahead of the main event, the Scarpa CNY Horse Tour Route Recce Day was held on January 11. This allowed participants to familiarise themselves with the trails. It was free for all registered participants of the Scarpa CNY Horse Tour 2026. Each participant received a race T-shirt or vest, and those who completed their race within the time limit were awarded a completion trophy.

Bullseye saddles up for the Year of the Horse party

[7] Bullseye, from Pixar’s Toy Story series, will join cowgirl Jessie at Hong Kong Disneyland between January 30 and March 1 to celebrate the Year of the Horse. Rumour has it that the beloved character will show up in places you least expect.
