A hungry black bear entered the garage of a bakery in the United States. It scared the workers and helped itself to 60 cupcakes! Then it walked away.

Workers at the bakery in Connecticut were loading cakes into a delivery van when the bear showed up. Bakery owner Miriam Stephens says that she heard worker Maureen Williams screaming and yelling that there was a bear in the garage.

Maureen says that she shouted to scare the bear off, but it came back three times. Then the bear charged at her so she backed out of the garage and ran away.

A video shows bakery workers walking around the side of the shop to try to scare the bear, but then they run away after it scares them.

The video then shows the bear dragging a box of cupcakes from the garage into the car park. Miriam says the bear ate 60 cupcakes. A baker finally got the bear to leave by honking a car horn. The furry thief was gone by the time police officers arrived.

No one was injured in the encounter.

There are about 1,200 black bears living in Connecticut, the local government says.

"The frequency of encounters between bears and humans is increasing," says spokesperson Paul Copleman. He says there were 67 reports of bears entering homes in Connecticut last year.
