After 144 years, the Sagrada Familia basilica in Barcelona, Spain, is finally finished. Designed by Antoni Gaudi, it is renowned for its stunning architecture and design.
Josep Turull, the rector of the basilica, highlighted its endless wonders.
“We say that one of the elements of the Sagrada Familia Basilica is that you never exhaust it,” Turull said. “I have spent the last eight years as its rector, and each day I discover something new.”
The basilica’s facades are packed with religious scenes and symbols. The church’s towers feature cornucopias and nesting peregrine falcons, which have been breeding at the basilica for over two decades.
Beneath the structure lies Gaudi’s crypt, where people seek his intercession. A huge seashell serves as a holy water basin, showcasing how Gaudi was inspired by nature. A dedicated room holds important relics and clerical clothing.
With its intricate details, the Sagrada Familia amazes worshippers and tourists alike.
