Cleaning and organising your room might seem boring. But it has health benefits, such as better sleep and improved concentration. If you’re unsure of where to start, here are some tips.

1. Make sure everything has a home

Organising your room requires having a place for everything. Two simple rules for items in your room are: make a home for them or get rid of them.

Assign a designated place to store items that are not in use. Shelves, drawers or bins can be used to keep things neatly organised, and they are easy to put away. If an item doesn’t have a place to go or you no longer use it, it is best to get rid of it. This could be done by donating, recycling or disposing of the items.

2. Avoid eating on your bed

Eating in bed seems easy in many situations. Especially when you are watching something on your laptop or phone. But food will make your room dirty. Even small crumbs will attract ants and cockroaches.

Not only will it bring bugs to your room, but it also hurts your sleeping habits. So if possible, it’s best to use your bedroom just for sleeping. That way, your brain knows that your bedroom is meant for rest, and you can enjoy a clean sleeping environment.

3. Organise your closet by colour

First, sort your clothes from light to dark. Then, hang them in a similar colour grouping. Start with the lightest colours on the left and move towards the darker shades. To make things organised, you may also label the bins or baskets and use them to store smaller items like socks and accessories. Put away clothes that aren’t needed for the current season.
