Difficulty: Explorer (Level 1)
Families and relationships look different for everyone! For some people, being with family is easy. But for others, it might be difficult when people do not get along.
Spending quality time with your family can help you build trust. With stronger bonds, it will be easier to resolve conflicts.
Try to make time to do things that are not related to school, work or other activities you must do. Free activities include exploring a country park or heading to the beach.
If the weather is not nice, you can play board games indoors. There are many family games that you can play for free online. Or try making your own family activity using the instructions below.

a jar
Instructions

This fun game will help you get to know your family! Cut the paper so that every person has 10 slips.
-
On each slip, everyone will write something they like or dislike. For example, someone could write “I like strawberry ice cream” or “I don’t like watching football.” You could also write about something that happened to you: “Someone gave me a hug after I had a tough day.”
-
Fold up all the slips. Then, put them in a jar or large bowl.
-
Take turns reading the different slips. Then, try to guess who wrote each one.

Talking about tough feelings
Materials
-
a box or a jar
-
slips of paper
-
a quiet place for your family to talk
Instructions
-
Sometimes, it is hard to talk about your feelings or solve arguments. You can try organising family meetings to chat about these issues. This is an activity that your family can do weekly, every other week, or once a month.
-
During the time before each meeting, take time to pause when you feel bad about something. Then, write about it on a slip of paper and put it in the box. Do not look in the box until the meeting. For example, you can write: “I wish Mum had not talked about how I look in my uniform.”
-
Start the meeting by sharing the best and hardest parts of your week. Then, take turns reading the papers in the box and chatting about it. This can help your family deal with problems in a calmer way.
