The Korean film industry is having a hard time because fewer films are being made, costs are high and ticket sales are poor. Thus, filmmakers are trying low-budget methods and artificial intelligence (AI) technology to bring life back to the industry.
Director Kang Yoon-sung tried something new with his latest film, Run to the West. He used AI to cut down the time and money needed to make the movie.
The film is 60 minutes long, and it is the first full-length film to use a lot of AI, especially for special effects.
Kang pointed out how fast the technology could work. A car explosion scene that would take four to five days to make with computer graphics was finished in 10 minutes with AI.
However, Kang’s film did not do very well. This suggests that even with tech innovation, a movie can still only succeed if it meets viewers’ standards.
