The Wilderness Project is a conservation group. The group travelled to the Lisima Plateau.
The plateau is in Angola, a Portuguese-speaking country in southern Africa. The waters that flow through the plateau feed four of Africa’s major river systems. They are the Congo, Okavango, Zambezi and Cuanza.
There, the group found eight new species of dragonfly. They also discovered three unknown grasshoppers and some 60 new butterflies and moths.
Some of the new species include a copper caterpillar and its adult butterfly. Experts also found a crowned crab spider. It glows under ultraviolet light.
“The armoured crickets are very cool ... very fierce-looking,” said Rob Taylor, the trip’s leader.
