South China Morning Post’s Young Post Club – a new website and app merging three print youth publications: Young Post, Young Post Spark and Posties – clinched a gold prize at the World Association of News Publishers’ (Wan-Ifra) prestigious Asian Media Awards 2026 in Singapore.

The Hong Kong news publisher’s offering for students and young readers won best young audience initiative on Wednesday alongside other prizes.

The gold follows a previous win for the news platform for youth, which secured second place at the prestigious International News Media Association (INMA) 2026 Global Media Awards in May for best initiative to bolster next-generation readership.

The latest award is a powerful confirmation of the publication’s decades-long dedication to serving and growing alongside young readers in Hong Kong.

SCMP emerged as a big winner at the Asian Media Awards with five gold and one silver for its photojournalism, infographics and design.

In the best news photography category, senior photographer Sam Tsang’s image of a man whose wife was trapped in last November’s Tai Po fire took gold, while a shot from last September by senior photographer Elson Li – showing a man sitting on a bench facing the sea amid Super Typhoon Ragasa – won silver.

Elsewhere, photographer Eugene Lee also secured gold in the best human interest photography category for a series of images captured with a 360-degree lens showing cramped interiors of subdivided flats, lofts, bed spaces and “space capsules” in Sham Shui Po and Jordan.

The cover of SCMP’s special print supplement in the aftermath of the Tai Po fire, “From ashes, strength”, won gold for best cover design, while an interactive infographic titled “When a typhoon hits Hong Kong” won gold in the best climate infographics category.

The Asian Media Awards were established to promote the highest publishing standards in newspaper and magazine design, infographics, editorial content, marketing, community service, revenue diversification and photojournalism.

The SCMP also won six awards in last year’s edition, including both gold and silver prizes for best news photography.
