Dealing with negative emotions can be hard, but trying to ignore them or keeping yourself busy won’t make them go away.
In fact, it could end up making you feel worse in the future. Here’s some advice:
Accept your feelings
Don’t run away from your feelings. Accept how you feel, and don’t force yourself to pretend your feelings don’t affect you. Sadness is a normal part of life, and it’s OK to cry if you need to.
Express your thoughts
Try writing down why you feel sad – did someone say or do something that hurt you? Did something happen that you couldn’t control? Writing down your thoughts can help you figure out what makes you feel bad. Then, you can start finding ways to deal with your emotions in a healthy way.
Talk to someone you trust
This could be a friend, family member or teacher. They can help you understand your feelings so you can feel less lonely and start seeing things differently.
