Difficulty: Explorer (Level 1)
The people in our lives all support us in different ways. Some give us guidance and reassurance, like a lighthouse at night. Others are like the waves, gently nudging us forward and motivating us to improve. Meanwhile, some are like anchors, keeping us grounded in a storm so we won’t feel alone.
It’s always a good idea to take the time to thank those who have helped you. Who are some people who have supported you?
Your web of support
1. Write down the name of a person who supported you. This could be a friend, a family member, a teacher, your domestic helper, or anybody else. Write as many names as you like.
2. Below the person’s name, jot down how they have helped you. For example, maybe a friend comforted you when you were upset in class. Or your mum encouraged you to keep working on a challenging maths problem.
3. Use your notes to fill in the web. What do these people have in common?

Thank you cards
Materials
-
a sheet of paper
-
a pen or pencil
-
coloured markers or pencils
-
other decorations, such as stickers or glitter
Instructions
1. Show your appreciation for the people in your web of support by making them cards. In each card, you can tell the recipient that you are grateful for them. You can write something as simple as “Thank you!” or “I am so lucky to have you!”.
2. Write down why you are grateful for them. You could share what they have done that helped you, or thank them for their kindness or encouraging words.
3. It is time to decorate your card. There are no rules when it comes to creativity, so let your imagination run wild! Doodle things like hearts and flowers, and add some colours or stickers.
4. Pass it on! Hand over your thank-you cards when you meet the recipients, or leave them on their desk as a surprise.
