My school’s 52nd Speech Day was held in November. It was a smashing success and meant a lot to me.

It was my last time engaging in this event as a student, and it was a great chance to enjoy the distinctive atmosphere of St Catharine’s Speech Day, emphasising the joy of starting a new journey in life and the sadness of parting.

I received a certificate and scholarship for mathematics, a recognition from the school to acknowledge my hard work. It will help drive me forward and unleash my potential.

I was deeply impressed by the emotional speech given by the representative of the graduates. It was a trip down memory lane of my whole secondary school life, and her gratitude towards teachers and janitors helped me recall my own memories of their arduous efforts.

I was also awestruck by the school choir, orchestra performances and a beautiful Tibetan dance. Speech Day ended with an important song for our school, “Emmanuel”, as well as a benediction for the graduates, blessing their new life after graduating from St Catharine’s.

Finally, the performers and graduates joined together and waved glow sticks while we sang. This emotional moment was so touching.

When speech day ended, the graduates started calling out our slogans, “We are St Cat” and “The Spirit of St Catharine’s”.

The energetic spirit of St Catharine’s will always be passed down as we show our dedication to our school.
