Charlotte Charlie Liao (aged 7), Victoria Shanghai Academy

I can’t believe the year went by so quickly and that I have been back in Hong Kong for so long. I lived in Bali for the past three years.

While I miss my friends in Bali, I hope I will have a great time with my new friends in Hong Kong.

This year, I hope to make more BFFs. I want to spend more time playing, hiking, climbing and having sleepovers!

I will make new friends by asking people what their name is. Then, I will ask, “Will you be my friend, please?”

I will treat my friends with respect and kindness. We will support each other forever. I love spending time with my friends!

Jeremy Tsui (aged 11), Hong Kong International School

This year, my wishes for my family are good health and happiness. A goal for my family is to travel together more and to learn more about different cultures, histories and landmarks across the world.

I also have my own goals for the upcoming year. I want to improve my time management, do well in school, and maintain a growth mindset.

A growth mindset means believing I can improve at anything if I put in the effort. I want to have a growth mindset because I want my work to be the best it can be. I will learn from my mistakes and not give up.

The last set of my wishes is about friendship. My wish is to maintain good friendships with people I interact with regularly, like Mark, Emma and Allan. I also wish to make at least three new friends this year.

Thank you for reading my goals for 2026, and I hope you have a great new year!

Hosanna Joy Chu (aged 7), St Stephen’s College Preparatory School

I am in Grade Two and a class monitor.

In the new year, I will be in Grade Three, and I wish to level up to become a prefect. This is because I like to help teachers and the little ones.

I also like to be in charge. Only prefects can go into the staff rooms, and I really want to see what they look like!

It is very hard to be chosen, but I am sure I will become a prefect. I will work hard and study a lot to get good grades. I will also focus in class and set a good example for others by being honest and cheerful.
