Dear Hong Kong athletes,
As a proud student from Hong Kong, I want to take a moment to express my heartfelt congratulations and admiration for all of you following the conclusion of the 15th National Games. Your dedication and hard work in representing our beloved Hong Kong filled me with immense pride and joy.
Knowing that athletes of your calibre showcased the extraordinary talent, resilience and spirit of our city on such a prominent national stage is inspiring.
Through every drop of sweat and every tear you have shed, you have demonstrated the unyielding spirit of the Chinese people. No matter how tough the challenge or fierce the competition, we, the people of Hong Kong, persevere. We never give up, and we rise stronger every time.
You are more than just athletes; you are our heroes, role models and living proof that dreams born in this tiny yet tenacious place can shine on the grandest of stages.
By standing on this national platform and giving your all, you are bringing glory not only to yourselves but also to all of Hong Kong – making each one of us walk taller and feel prouder to call this city home.
To all of us who are still studying, striving to contribute to our community, and pursuing our aspirations: you embody the true meaning of passion and perseverance.
Your journey inspires us to work harder, carry the indomitable spirit of Hong Kong into every challenge we encounter, and pursue our goals with unwavering determination.
Please remember that while medals and results are important, what truly mattered is the courage to step onto this national stage, the journey you undertook and the heart you put into every competition.
We are already immensely proud of you simply for being here and for earning your place among the very best in the country.
Always know that every Hongkonger is watching, cheering and standing firmly behind you.
Your courage, effort, and unwavering spirit are seen, felt and deeply appreciated by us all.
Wishing you good luck always!
Always give it everything you’ve got and make Hong Kong proud.
With greatest admiration and support,
A proud Hong Kong student

I am writing to express my concerns about the Hong Kong government’s plans to admit more international students into Direct Subsidy Scheme (DSS) schools, especially those from Southeast Asia. This initiative allows DSS schools to apply for additional places for students with visas to join on a self-financing basis.
Welcoming international students undoubtedly broadens our horizons and fosters cultural exchange. However, it is essential to consider the impact this has on local students. The growing number of international students raises questions about how resources are allocated within our educational institutions.
This situation could result in local students having difficulty accessing the support they need to succeed academically.
For example, if schools are forced to allocate more resources to meet the needs of international students, local students may experience delays in their learning.
The language barrier can be a significant challenge for many international students, who often need extra time to improve their English proficiency.
This situation may strain the resources available to local students. Schools should consider creating English-language support programmes specifically designed for international students, but it is crucial that this does not come at the expense of local students’ educational needs.
To address these concerns, schools should establish regular forums where local students can share their opinions and experiences.
This would provide a platform for them to express their concerns and ensure that their needs are adequately addressed.
Schools must create an environment of mutual respect and understanding between local and international students.
Organising joint cultural exchange projects and events can encourage collaboration and help alleviate feelings of isolation among students.
Additionally, implementing mixed classrooms and buddy systems will promote integration, ensuring that both groups feel valued within the school community.
In conclusion, while the presence of international students can enrich our educational landscape, it is essential that we do not overlook the needs of local students.
By taking proactive measures to maintain a balanced approach, we can foster a supportive environment for all students in Hong Kong.
