Regular exercise is important because it keeps our bodies and our minds healthy. But it can be tough to work out when you have school and other things to do.
According to Hong Kong’s Department of Health, children should exercise for at least 60 minutes every week.
This physical activity should be a little intense, and it definitely does not have to be boring. It could be playing with friends in the park, running around. It can be a sport or a game like basketball or badminton.
It can also be an activity you do by yourself, like jogging or riding a bike. If you feel you are too busy to exercise during school, try walking a little on your way home.
It is perfectly fine to do many different types of activities to reach the 60 minutes.
Make sure you remember that food is fuel, especially for your brain. You need all the nutrients you can get while you are still growing and developing.
If you are worried about your health, just remember to eat things in moderation. You can swap out processed snacks and sugary drinks for alternatives. For example, you can eat nuts and drink fresh fruit juices.
You can also add more grains and vegetables to your everyday diet. Be sure to balance proteins, fats and carbohydrates to nourish your body and mind.
